Celebrations and old traditions
Salleret-Champorcher also offers interesting opportunities to enjoy the historic traditions of the valley. On August the 5th the charming feast of the Madonna of the snow is celebrated through a procession at night, lit by torches, leading up to the Miserin lake.
It is also interesting to visit to the Co-operative society Lou Dzeut that continues the old tradition of hemp manufacture on old looms. The Co-operative has won prizes and acknowledgements for its activities and still continues nowadays manufacturing unique items of local artisanship.
Hunting
The lower part of the Camporcher Valley – not far away from Salleret – also offers opportunities to keen hunters, a sport being ruled at regional level in precise Territorial Hunting Precincts. The whole area has traditionally been linked to this sport since the time when the Kings of Italy beat the Champorcher Valley as a privileged hunting territory, one of the great passions of Vittorio Emanuele II. At present there remains an old mule-track of the tradition of Savoy, that was used to reach the hunting lodges situated in Dondena, renamed the "royal road ", a really beautiful path also to walk.
