"Let the morning come." Charity exhibit and fundraising auction to help Elena Adamyants

What does art, exhibits, galleries exist for? Can the beauty save the world at least once? Or may be it can just save a human life? It seems impossible and inconceivable that a person may die just because of exorbitant cost of the medical treatment. No matter how pretentiously or frightful it might sound, this exhibition is a sort of a challenge thrown down to death. It has no subject and no other cause but SAVING A HUMAN LIFE!

The main object we purpose while arranging this exhibition is to raise money for medical treatment of Lena Adamyants ( visit Lena's page for more information ). Lena is seriously ill with leukemia, only a bone marrow transplantation can save her life. This surgery is extremely expensive. We are not sure how we can raise such sum of money, however we must do all in what in our efforts to help Lena. Lena has two small children. It is unbearable to even imagine that she might die.

Lena needs a bone marrow transplant from a donor to stay alive and defeat the disease. The search, activation of a donor is carried out in German register Stefan Morsch Stiftung and requires significant expenditures – over $27 000 US dollars. The actual surgery and postoperative care is at least $150,000 US dollars. We collected approximately $40 000.

During the exhibition we will represent a range of paintings, drawings, photographs by various artists who donated their work to raise funds for Lena.

Mikhail Pogarsky(the Curator):

“When I invited artists to participate in this event and to exhibit their works of art for free or for a small percent from sale proceeds anyone of them has taken up the call and everybody has refused to take any payment. Though the exhibition must have been arranged with the shortest possible delay, it appears to be very interesting. It may be considered as a sort of art-time profile, a spontaneous exhalation of contemporary art or an artistic response to one’s pain.

We would like to pay special attention to the prices. We have tried to make them as low as possible (for instance, the opening bid for Alexander Lavrentiev’s and Nina Ai-Artyan’s photographs will be 8,000 rub, whereas the market-prices are about 50-60 thousand of rubles). Furthermore, most of works will be sold using a Dutch auction method, which means that the auction begins with the highest asking price that is lowered until some participant is willing to accept the auctioneer's price.

The exhibition will last all evening, day and night, so that everybody willing to come could have had such an opportunity. All the sold works will be replaces with the new ones. Please, join us!

The main aim of this exhibition is to let the morning come. The morning of a new life of a person who has got into trouble.”
